During the summer of 2023, the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation, more commonly known as the Nashville Dominicans, announced they would begin a new mission at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Metairie, LA.  

On July 1, Mother Anna Grace Neenan, OP, Prioress General, appointed three sisters to teach at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School beginning with the 2024 - 2025 academic year: Sr. Anna Margaret Smith, O.P.; Sr. Maria Caeli Parmeter, O.P.; and Sr. Felicity Heither, O.P.

The new sisters will arrive in Metairie at the end of July.  We plan on hosting several events to formally welcome them to the parish and the school. We will also schedule an open house and blessing of the new convent.  More plans will be announced in the future!

St. Catherine of Siena and the Archdiocese of New Orleans look forward to welcoming the Nashville Dominicans back to New Orleans!

Since 1860, the Nashville Dominican Sisters have served primarily as educators in Catholic schools.  Currently there are over 315 sisters in 52 schools in 31 dioceses in the United States, as well as Canada, Ireland, Scotland, the Netherlands, Italy, and Australia. Forty-four percent of the Congregation of St. Cecilia is under the age of 40.
