We are blessed at St. Catherine of Siena Parish with a vibrant community of faith. Our Catholic Church and our Catholic School have been anchors in the Old Metairie community for over 100 years. Our mission is to be a place where people are "Encountering Jesus, Igniting Hearts, and Transforming the World!"
As Church attendance increases, as school enrollment increases, as parishioner involvement increases, as outreach efforts increase, and parish activities increase, parking continues to be a concern. While we exceed the number of legal parking spaces required by the Jefferson Parish code, we have been quietly working for several years on solutions to address the need for more legal parking spaces to accommodate our active and growing community.
After considering many options, we are undertaking a massive, multi-million dollar campus reorganization in order to better use our campus footprint and be better neighbors. We are building a new multi-story Parish Center (replacing the Melancon Center and the Parish Office). We are moving the priest rectory off campus. We are building a new 55 car parking lot (see the rendering below). This new parking lot will increase our parking capacity by almost 40%. The targeted completion date for this plan is December 2026.
While it will take some time to realize the goals of this project, it is important for us to be respectful and kind to our neighbors now. Please help us be good neighbors when you are attending any St. Catherine of Siena activities.
Please ONLY park in legal parking spaces. Please do not park in a fire lane or block a fire hydrant. Please do not park in a handicapped space (unless you have the appropriate tag). Please do not block any driveways. Please do not park on the new walking path on the neutral ground. Please do not park illegally, even just for a few minutes.
It is important for us to work together in order to be good neighbors. If you see someone who is not parking legally, please consider gently and lovingly asking them to be considerate and respectful of our neighbors in the community.
