I am happy to announce that Claire Dantin will serve as our new youth minister. She will be responsible for coordinating our high school CYO and junior high CYO starting August 1.
Claire was born and raised in Houma, Louisiana, and she graduated with a Bachelors of Science from LSU. Since graduating college, she has assisted with her alma mater’s campus ministry at Vandebilt Catholic High School and has continued to lead bible studies for college students and young adults. Her own faith journey began as a student involved in youth ministry, so she is excited for the opportunity to walk with the teens at St. Catherine of Siena and help them encounter the Lord!
Please introduce yourself if you see her. Claire is looking forward to meeting all of the parishioners and becoming part of the St. Catherine’s family! If you’re interested in volunteering with our youth program, please email Claire at [email protected].
Because she is also working on a Master's degree, Claire will only be working 30 hours a week. While Confirmation preparation and PSR used to be part of the youth minister's role, we separated out some of the responsibilities. Joseph Crapanzano, Jr., will coordinate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Matt Orillion will coordinate the Parish School of Religion.
I am grateful to Bernadette Mahoney for serving as our Director of Youth Ministry for the last several years. We wish her well as she takes on a new role as a high school teacher and campus minister.
Please join me in praying for Claire as she serves the youth and young adults in our parish. We are looking forward to welcoming her to SCS!
