The Knights of Columbus from St. Catherine of Siena Council 12686 in Metairie will organize a “Blue Mass” in order to honor our protectors of peace and civil order, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, as well as emergency medical technicians. The event was announced by Grand Knight Paul Bates. “ Since 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina, we have come to realize the unselfish work our police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians do for us and we want to publicly show our appreciation”, said Bates.

This Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM, May 2, 2010, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 105 Bonnabel Boulevard. The event is open to Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians of all faiths from Jefferson Parish. Six hundred are expected to attend. The purpose of the event is to show appreciation for the service and dedication these organizations provide our community and to pray for their continued success. It is also intended to recognize the surviving spouses of those who have fallen in the line of duty and their great sacrifices
