The Knights of Columbus from St. Catherine of Siena Council 12686 in Metairie will organize a “Blue Mass” in order to honor our protectors of peace and civil order, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, as well as emergency medical technicians. The event was announced by Grand Knight Paul Bates. “ Since 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina, we have come to realize the unselfish work our police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians do for us and we want to publicly show our appreciation”, said Bates.

This Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM, May 2, 2010, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 105 Bonnabel Boulevard. The event is open to Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians of all faiths from Jefferson Parish. Six hundred are expected to attend. The new pastor for our parish will be Rev. Eugene F. Jacques, presently the pastor at St. Cletus in Gretna. His formal installation as pastor will take place on Sunday July 11th at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. A reception will follow in the Barrett Complex. All organization will be asked to assist in preparing for this installation and reception and all parishioners are invited to attend. Please join us in welcoming him and preparing for the enrichment of our parish.
